2009 Champions League scheduled for September-October

The second Champions Twenty20 League will take place next year between September 25 and October 11, and will feature 12 teams, four more than the first edition to be held between December 3-10, 2008.

Next year’s league has been scheduled in the same month the ICC proposes to hold its Champions Trophy, which was postponed from September 2009 after five of the eight participating nations said they would not send their teams for the event given security concerns in Pakistan.

Dhoni likely to miss Champions League final

Broadcaster Sony Entertainment Television (SET), a key contender for the upcoming Champions T20 League, has unofficially begun floating packages for potential advertisers in the market. The rates that are currently being quoted are Rs 3.5-4 lakh for a 10-second spot. Media agencies said that Sony is currently testing the waters and have, therefore, begun informal conversations with key clients and agencies.

Middlesex in Twenty20 Champions League

English side Middlesex has been confirmed as one of the eight teams to take part in cricket’s inaugural Twenty20 Champions League, which starts in India next month.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed its Twenty20 champion side would take part in the tournament, which also includes Victoria and Western Australia as Australia’s two representative sides.
